About Me (Zsuzsa Bozsó) My work is primarily defined by symbolic expressionism and spiritual surrealism. Through my paintings, I portray inner processes, transformations, and the struggles of the soul using symbols, mythical figures, and strong contrasts. My art aims to build a bridge between consciousness and the unconscious, the human and the divine, the transient and the eternal. I grew up in the countryside, and the closeness of nature is essential to my being. Its changes and inner laws have always fascinated me, deeply influencing my artistic work as part of my personality. I started with realistic landscapes—captivated by the natural and built environment of Szentendre, the mountains, the river, the charming baroque houses, and the Mediterranean atmosphere of the town. Today, I no longer seek to depict reality precisely in my landscapes. Instead, I paint an inner vision evoked by the environment, abstracting the visual experience. I love working with pastel, as it allows me to create soft, delicate, and gentle images. I find it especially fitting for exploring spiritual themes. It touches the intangible—like stepping into a transcendent visual journey. Oil is one of my favorite techniques. I adore its scent. It carries a sense of the sublime and suits themes with weight and depth. Watercolor offers a space for light, airy images. I love painting landscapes and flower-filled meadows with it—it is pure joy to create. Acrylic—I've used it more often lately. We are still softening each other. It’s not my favorite yet, but we’re becoming friends. :-) As for when and which technique I choose—it depends on the theme, my mood, or the nature of a specific commission.
