Zénó Veress
Grafikus
Art centered on the relationship between people and their belongings, spanning from illustration to mixed-media explorations of sustainability. My work transforms seemingly insignificant everyday objects into the visual imprints we carry of our homes and surroundings.
CV
Born in 1976, I have always been driven by the act of creation; my first professional steps were rooted in handmade crafts. After working as a freelance illustrator starting in the mid-90s, my path naturally led toward painting, and I graduated from the University of Szeged in 2016.
While I primarily work with acrylics—a medium I’ve favored since my university days—I also explore mixed-media pieces using watercolor and ink. My work focuses on still lifes and the everyday objects that catch my eye. Though they may seem insignificant, these objects form the visual imprints of our homes, the landscapes we inhabit, and the people around us.
My central inspiration is the relationship between people and their belongings, where the study of inanimate matter offers a window into the living. I am constantly evolving, exploring new themes and techniques. In recent years, my work has shifted toward collage-style, mixed-media pieces centered on the concept of sustainability—in its true, foundational sense, rather than its modern, commercialized interpretation. I’ve become increasingly interested in surfaces where the outcome is shaped by more than just the stroke of a brush.
