Gábor Vödrös

Mistcountry "I love the mist, for it is silent, like a foreign land whose inhabitant is solitude and whose king is dream." /István Fekete/ Gábor Vödrös Gabó, visual artist, strange-voiced observer of Budapest. From his apartment on the banks of the Danube, he follows the changing river and its surroundings through the seasons. In his foggy, drawings, the Danube landmarks reveal the magical atmosphere of Budapest's familiar shapes in a unique and unmistakable way. If you observe these pictures, you will discover that there are no people in the drawings. The misty Budapest, the buildings shimmering in the landscape, the world of the two parts clinging to the bridges, appear as separate entities in the pictures. The silent Danube, the fog curtains of the bridges, the floating contours of the boats are the characters of the artist's world. The city is always changing. In Gábor Vödrös' drawings, time slows down. In his large-scale works on paper, the city, the unknown private life of Budapest, is revealed in the breathlessly subtle blotches of charcoal drawings, humidly, on paper, in the lyrical language of charcoal drawings.
