The Playground series (2022–2025) evokes the world of the iconic, welded iron climbing frames from the 1960s to the 1980s, which once defined the childhood and social spaces of the Eastern Bloc. The elements of the series—the sphere climber, the tower, the hamster wheel, and the semicircle ladder—detach from the conventional perspective. With one exception, they are presented from a direct top-down view. Enhanced by the large scale of the canvases, this unusual vantage point creates the sensation of hovering directly above or even standing upon them, shifting these familiar forms into a new dimension and transforming them into symbols.Characterized by a complete absence of people, the works create a quiet tension between the structures' once-vibrant purpose and their current stillness. Is this a world that no longer exists, or does it live on deep within us? Are these spaces of the past or the future? The answer is left for the viewer to decide, guided by their own emotions and impressions.
